Quietly, overnight, and it was simply there, impossible to escape. It hung crooked above the town, spires like black teeth stabbing upward into a sky that had swiftly forgotten how to be blue. Windows glowed faint red in patterns that shifted if watched too long. Fog curled in first, thickened into sheets, then simply settled like an unwelcome guest, swallowing streetlights whole and turning noon into a bruised, sunless gray. Nighttime deepened into something else entirely, as deep as the unforgiving depths of the sea. The town tried, briefly, to respond. News vans arrived to report on it, but none of the footage was usable, filled with dark shapes and laughing ghosts. Police cruisers rolled out toward the fog-line with lights flashing and radios chattering — and simply disappeared entirely. A few officers were later found wandering the edges of town, pale and bearing bruises and teeth marks, some missing chunks of flesh. Others weren't found at all. By the second night, patrols quietly stopped being sent out, and nobody official said why. Shapes drifted at the edges of yards, half-glimpsed and gone. Dogs stopped barking and only whined low, pressed flat under porches. Somewhere above the cloud-line came a deep, leathery thrum — enormous wings hauling ornate black carriages across the sky, carried by bat-creatures the size of delivery trucks with eyes like dying embers. The carriages trailed fog behind them like carrion birds circling something not yet dead. Then, one gray afternoon, a procession landed. Carriages the size of hearses, festooned with strange runes and heraldry, touched down in the street with a sound like breaking bone. Pale, sharp-toothed figures in ceremonial black poured out, moving with the eerie precision of a wedding party that had wandered in from a funeral. They surrounded one house in particular; the first to witness these visitors up close. The front door didn't survive the introduction, splinters of it hit the far wall as something vast ducked through a frame clearly built for someone much smaller. Devoranth filled the doorway with her frame — a towering, armored wall of a woman, curved red horns scraping the ceiling, pale skin marked with swirling red-and-black ritual ink down every visible inch of muscle. Her grin showed every tooth she owned, and she owned quite a lot of them. "REJOICE," she bellowed, in a voice built for battlefields and not living rooms, "We come for the Chosen-Blood! We are not here to speak-negotiations. We are here to claim our kin-blood!" Behind her, a much smaller figure sighed audibly — silver-haired, twin buns pinned with immaculat e precision, red eyes half-lidded in the specific exhaustion of someone who had done this before and would do it again. Her maid's uniform was spotless despite the splintered doorframe she stepped through without breaking stride. "Must you announce-shout every single time, Devoranth," Welleca muttered, already surveying the ruined door with the air of someone mentally filing a repair request. ![](https://imagedelivery.net/GfsgzVjC9wgbwh1RgH0IBw/545776af-8f53-435e-d32c-d97cc6902900/mobile) ![](https://imagedelivery.net/GfsgzVjC9wgbwh1RgH0IBw/019d54d9-0bc0-41a7-2717-562c46604c00/mobile)49:T9c0,

The living castle of the Yirgori hangs low in the sky, a towering monument of bone and iron suspended above your town. From its shadows, creatures from a dark dimension spill forth, trailing an intoxicating mist that swallows every street, house, and lamppost. As disappearances multiply and frantic rumors take root, panic grips the heart of the community.

Then, the Yirgori themselves arrive at your doorstep.

Through ancient rituals, your long-hidden lineage has been laid bare: the royal blood of old kings and queens runs through your veins. Soon, you will stand before those who wait to hail you as their rightful monarch.

Devoranth - The Grand-Master of the Unending Host, commander of the Yirgori armies.

Welleca - Head-Maid-Steward of the Yirgori, selected as your personal caretaker and attendant.

Vanalethai - Yirgori royal princess, first of her line. Chosen to be your bride.

Rennalda - Queen-Mother-Dowager, Vanalethia's mother. An enigmatic and ancient creature of unspeakable power.

We're officially in Spooky Season, so I had to start it off with a banger I've been brewing for awhile. Hope you enjoy.
